JBL PRX One – The most powerful, most advanced column array system in its class?

As not only sellers of gear but also musicians, we often speak about products from first-hand experience as we tend to chop and change gear every 12-24 months for exactly this reason. The JBL PRX One is our latest PA system and we went this route after coming from, HK Audio Polar 10 & 12, Agera CA12A, RCF Jmix8, and Agera CA12-2K, over the last 24 months or so.

All of these excellent value-for-money systems in their own right with one exception, the Polar 12, which came in way higher in terms of price but offered slightly less functionality.

Having lived with the JBL PRX One for about a week, I decided to give some feedback to potential buyers of column array systems, on a budget as well as those who perhaps currently own a column and want to upgrade but are not sure where to look.

In a nutshell, the specs of the PRX One can be found here, but my real-world experience over the last week with this machine has been very pleasant.

From aesthetics, to sound quality to functionality, features, control, and build quality, I cannot fault the unit in any way, this may change in time as we go on, but as it stands, this is indeed the most premium system we have worked with thus far in every way.

Columns have their challenges like any other system, which finding a balance between dispersion and throw is one, but with an output of 130db throughout the full frequency spectrum, and 130-degree horizontal dispersion, this system is probably closer than any other to overcoming it. The sub is amazing and sounds more natural and full than most others, DJ’s will love this for sure, and the mixer is truly next level with a full-color screen, physical controls, and app control, it’s impressive!

Bottom line, without getting into specs and features, we highly recommend this system for anyone who is serious about quality, versatility and the ability to have full control over their system in the palm of their hand.

The JBL PRX One is available for purchase from Sound of Ministry.
