Austrian Audio OC16 – Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone [OC16STUDIO]
The OC16 from Austrian Audio is designed to provide home, project, and professional studios with a go-to workhorse condenser microphone ready to tackle a wide variety of applications and deliver clear, transparent, and natural recordings, rivalling far more expensive models. Part of Austrian Audio’s Open Condenser series and engineered with transformerless Open Acoustics technology that isolates the capsule from vibrations and provides a built-in diffuser, the mic provides accurate, uncoloured audio capture for drums, electric and acoustic guitars, pianos, wind and string instruments, or vocals.
The focused cardioid pickup pattern helps to reduce unwanted background sounds, and the included elastic spider shock mount offers additional protection from handling and vibration noises, making the mic well-suited to podcasting, streaming, and voice-over applications. A three-position low-cut switch lets you precisely filter out unwanted bottom frequencies for cleaner, clearer audio. The condenser mic capsule requires 48V phantom power through the XLR connector.
Features
- Equipped with the CKR6 capsule: a large-diaphragm condenser inspired by the legendary CK12 and handmade in Vienna
- Low-cut/high-pass filter with two frequency options: 40 Hz to eliminate lowest interference frequencies or 160 Hz to counteract proximity effect
- Flat design and low weight: Allows for miking and precise alignment, even in hard-to-reach-places.
- Open acoustic design: With the CKR capsule suspended in the microphone at three elastic points, interference from structure-borne noise is kept to a minimum.
- High sound pressure compatibility: The OC16 can tolerate sound pressure of up to 148 dB SPL and can be used without risk of distortion even in front of very loud sound sources.
